I have to admit, when we planned our vacation and Talkeetna was brought up as a place to go, I was like, "Where?" Mr. Grumble informed me that it is the town that inspired one of my favorite 90's shows, Northern Exposure. When I heard that, I was ready to go, and it did not disappoint. Here are some pics from our second stop on our Alaska adventure.

Four people smiling in front of a "Welcome to Talkeetna, Alaska" sign. Bright colors, outdoor setting with trees. Cheerful atmosphere.

You have to get the obligatory pic in front of the welcome sign.

Two people smile through a cutout of a cartoon sled dog scene with "Mush!" above. Text reads "Talkeetna, Alaska." Playful and fun mood.

They had these cute cut outs throughout the town. We made it to ALL of them!

Election poster for Talkeetna’s mayor features photos of a dog and a cat, Chloe and Wendell. Voting details and locations are listed below.

You can vote for mayor too! We saw this in several places in Alaska and you could get tshirts as well. Made me laugh!

Boho boutique with colorful decor and two vintage vans. Sign reads "Photo Bus." Autumn leaves cover the ground; a relaxed, eclectic vibe.

It is a quirky little town and fun to explore. Here is one of our fave places to visit.

Colorful moose sculpture with floral legs on grass, in front of a rustic brown house and wooden shed. Overcast sky, autumn setting.

See what I mean? You can find things like this all over town.

Toilet bowl planter with vibrant flowers and green leaves in a forest setting. Autumn leaves cover the ground, creating a whimsical scene.

This made us all laugh. Most people put cute statues in front of their houses. This person decided on two toilets on both sides of his driveway for decorations. Well, alright then!

Two-story wooden house with a metal roof and front porch, surrounded by trees. Overcast sky and gravel path. Person in jacket at right edge.

We stayed in this beautiful AirBnB. This was my favorite place we stayed in Alaska. The hosts were wonderful and helpful.

Wooden bridge in a forest with colorful autumn foliage. Red and green plants contrast with the earthy tones, creating a vibrant scene.

It had a gorgeous porch and a trail you could walk. We were advised not to because of all the rain. Slippery and muddy. Look at those Fall colors!

Autumn scene in a forest with trees and colorful foliage. Yellow and red leaves cover the ground near a lake. Overcast sky enhances the tranquil mood.

He hiked two of many trails in Talkeetna, the Whigmi Road and Comsat Trailheads. They were both beautiful and the Fall colors stunning.

Life jackets hang below a colorful sign reading "Kids Don't Float! Use your PFD wisely." Set in a lush, leafy outdoor setting.

They clearly know how kids are! This was a cool idea.

Autumn lake scene with overhanging tree branches and yellow leaves. Lush greenery surrounds the calm water, creating a serene atmosphere.

And here is one of many lakes in Talkeetna.

Forest path with a puddle, bordered by vibrant green leaves and red bushes. Tall trees arch overhead, creating a serene, natural setting.

It rained on us most of the trip, but it was still breathtaking.

Two people in raincoats walk through a forest with autumn foliage. One wears a striped shirt and sunglasses. The mood is calm and rainy.

This is the pic that had us giggling throughout our trip. We called it our FBI MOST WANTED pic! The stories that were made up about this photo! Photo taken by Mr. Travel Buddy.

Forest path covered in fallen leaves, surrounded by trees with yellow and green foliage. The scene is tranquil and autumnal.

This was like walking through a fairytale land.

Two people stand under a "Talkeetna Lakes Comsat" sign in a wooded area. One is kissing the other's cheek. Both are smiling.

A great end to this hike.

We loved Talkeetna and I highly recommend it. The food is great and the people are wonderful here. I would be remiss if I did not mention two places that you should visit. The Alaska Birch Syrup & Wild Harvest Shop. Their syrup and other products are out of this world good and they let us sample many things. They were friendly and very helpful. They also ship, which we did. Also, Aurora Dora. Her photography is stunning and worth a stop in.

Next stop, Denali National Park and Reserve
