It is not as boring as it sounds! Believe it or not, you can enjoy all kinds of food while traveling, you just have to eat it in moderation. Here are some tips to help make your travel experience guilt free.
Drink water. Not only does it keep you hydrated, it helps make things move along properly. While traveling, that can be a big issue!
Eat fiber foods. Try to eat fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains... Like water, this helps keep you regular while traveling.
Go ahead and enjoy that splurge meal you want to eat. Try the local cuisines. It is okay. If you are traveling with someone, split your dish with them. It makes you eat less and cuts down on some of your food expenditures. Spread these splurge meals out. Having them at lunch or breakfast is a good idea. You are still walking around and active.
When you are not eating a splurge meal, eat lean meats. Fish, chicken, turkey, venison... It's protein! If you are going to order a steak, get a NY strip. This cut of meat has less fat and is better for you. Try to eat some form of protein at every meal (meats, fish, legumes, nuts and seeds, soy-based products...)
Walk as much as you can. If it is a mile or less to get to your destination, walk it. Enjoy being outdoors. You see more of the environment when you are not zipping by in transport. Don't take the elevator. Take the stairs instead. If there are places to hike, go! The beauty of God's creation is always worth seeing! Keep your body moving. Burn those calories!
Leave the guilt behind. If you gain a little weight on your trip, you can get it off when you get home and back to your healthy routine. Enjoy your vacation!
Mr. Grumble and I love to travel. These are the things we do to help make our trips the best they can be. Go out and enjoy the world foot loose and fancy free. Bon Voyage!
