Our oldest Grumble came home from South Korea for a visit. One morning, Mr. Grumble made omelets. We had the choice of bacon or sausage. Bacon will always be chosen by me. I love bacon, and he made a bunch of bacon. He had it sitting on a plate with a paper towel on it. I could smell the bacon as it was simmering on that plate. I couldn't help myself. I ate one and then another, and before I realized what I was doing, I had eaten four or five pieces of bacon. This does not include how many pieces were in the omelet! The struggle was real, and I knew I was going to pay for that. It was good in the moment, though!
It is amazing how easy it is for me to start slipping into old habits. The important thing is to acknowledge it and decide to stop. My love of bacon is legendary and will always be a problem for me. It is on my list of foods I do not eat often, because it is a struggle. The smell, the taste, the... I need to stop right here before I start wanting it again...
These things happen, but staying the course you have set out for yourself is important. Don't abandon the road to good health because of a mistake. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. No one said this was easy, but it is worth it. We got this!
